Description
18" (46 cm.) Paper mache socket head with painted hair and facial features, shaded brown hair with swirling curls onto the forehead, painted blue eyes with uniquely-styled white accents, black and grey upper eyeliner, fringed brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth, French paper mache body jointed at shoulders and hips. Condition: generally excellent, some paint wear on body. Marks: The Emma Doll (hand-lettered at nape). Comments: mystery mark, the doll appears to be an artistic re-fashioning of an earlier doll, but actual maker and time of re-work is a mystery, as is the meaning of the name The Emma Doll. Value Points: quite charming presentation with artistic painting in the folk art style.
