Description
11" (28 cm.) Wooden socket head, blue glass eyes, painted lashes, feathered brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, open mouth, outlined lips, four tiny teeth, brunette mohair wig, all-wooden fully-jointed body. Condition: generally excellent, one paint chip on arm. Marks: Je Suis Tout en Bois (silk streamer on dress) 2081 5/21 Bebe bois (lettered on label along with printed logo MP within wreath). Comments: Alexander Legrand, circa 1900, whose wooden dolls were made in the Jura mountains of France/Switzerland; they were advertised in Paris Etrennes catalogs such as Aux Classes Laborieuse as "bebe tous bois" (all wooden dolls). Value Points: impeccably-preserved in original labeled box, with original chemise, socks, shoes, and silk streamer label.
