Description
20" (51 cm.) All-cloth doll with firmly-pressed and oil painted swivel head with single seam, oval-shaped face, brown shaded and outlined eyes, white eye dots, black and brown upper eyeliner, single stroke brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth, brunette human hair wig, muslin body with stitch-jointed arms, constructed bent left elbow, disc-jointed hips. Condition: generally excellent, slight tears in tulle sleeve ruffles. Marks: Kathe Kruse 1690 (left foot) German Handcraft (small letter stamp on right foot). Kathe Kruse (wrist paper label with additional stamp of doll's name, Almut). Kathe Kruse (neck paper label). Comments: Kathe Kruse, Series VIII, 1930s, the girl model of this series was named Ilsebill and this particular doll was named Almut. Value Points: well-preserved doll with most endearing expression, beautiful painting, original wig and rayon flower print dress with tulle ruffles at sleeves and neck, shoes and socks.
