Description
27" (69 cm.) x 21" framed. The framed and matted watercolor depicts a seated Edith Flack Ackley cloth doll with classic features, black hair with hair ribbon, wearing colonial style dress and classic Ackley shoes, a bouquet of flowers at her side and a patterned English softpaste plate at her back. Condition: excellent. Marks: Telka Ackley (signed lower right). Comments: Telka Ackley, circa 1940, working in conjunction with her mother Edith Flack Ackley, the New York artist, painted a number of watercolors to correspond with matching dolls created by her mother. The paintings were offered in various art galleries such as the Tricker Galleries in which she had a one-man exhibition, and in prestige New York toy and book stores along with Edith Flack Ackley dolls and books.
