16" (41 cm.) Cloth doll with firmly-pressed silk twill face, center seam with shaped nose and chin, embroidered facial features, outlined brown eyes with white dots and up-glancing pupils, brows, embroidered lips of closed mouth, brunette mohair wig captured under original coiffe, firmly-stuffed cloth body with stitch-jointing at shoulders and disc-jointed hip. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Werkstatt fur Schwalmes ...Alexandra Thielmann Willingshausen (see photo of original attached label). Comments: Germany, circa 1925, the doll was created in the important embroidery workshop of Thielmann, notable for teaching the traditional Schwalm embroidery. Value Points: rare presentation doll from the workshop is impeccably preserved, retaining its fine original costume including leather shoes.
