Condition: contents excellent, the box exterior has original finish albeit rubbed. Comments: Germany, Wilde & Spieth, post-WWII 1940s/50s, for the American market. The German firm, founded in 1831, was noted for carpentry products made by local craftsmen; in the late 1940s the firm changed style direction and became noted for its furniture now celebrated as mid-century modern. The Fashion Shop is a charming blend of the two focuses. Value Points: rarely found piece, included is a booklet telling about the shop, along with printed patterns for recommended styles.
