14" (36 cm.) All pink muslin doll with flat-dimensional face, printed facial features, brown outlined side-glancing eyes, upper curly lashes, short dash brows, outlined nostrils, shaded and outlined lips, brunette yarn hair with unusual detail of stitched yarn outline, stitch-jointing at shoulders and hips, wearing original cotton dress with cotton shawl and apron, layered sunbonnet, original undergarments, stockings, black shoes. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: #17 Sylvia by C. Piercy (lettered by shoes). Comments: Caroline Piercy (1886-1955) was early influenced by the Shaker community in Ohio; she authored several Shaker Cookbooks, and in 1945 authored the miniature book Sylvia the Shaker Maid which is included with this book and has her personal inscription "May the peace of the Shakers be yours, the author Caroline Piercy, May �45". Value Points: rare doll in fine state of originality, with original autographed book.
