Description
14" (36 cm.) Each has carved wooden head with solid dome and elongated face, very full cheeks, painted blue or brown eyes in side-glancing manner, single stroke brows, carved definition of philtrum, nostrils and dimples, closed mouth, blonde flaxen hair, firmly-stuffed muslin body with jointing at shoulders and hips. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Ursel Erbs, late 1940s, of Saxony, who began making dolls shortly after WWII to support herself and two young children. Value Points: the charming pair are wearing original traditional costumes of Hansel and Gretel, each with very distinctive face and expressions.
