Description
18" (46 cm.) All-cloth doll with stitched-on three-back-seam head, pressed and oil-painted facial features, blue painted eyes with brown eyeliner, white eye dots, black and brown upper eyeliner, nostril dots, closed mouth, painted brown hair with forelock curls, blushed cheeks and ears, stitch-jointed shoulders, loosely sewn-on legs with ribbon that attaches to button at back torso to hold seated or standing pose. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Kathe Kruse 819341 Made in US Zone Germany (feet). Comments: Kathe Kruse, circa 1945, the "Hampelchen" model, the doll was also known as Gluckskind (Child of Fortune), originally designed by Igor von Jakimow series XII-H in 1935. Value Points: fine original state of preservation and painting, the doll has original costume, undergarment, shoes, and original paper label stamped "Made in US Zone" and hand-lettered "Peggy".
