23" (58 cm.) Swivel head with unusual facial shape, pointy nose, applied round black eyes with painted white eye dots, closed mouth with attached beige yarn beard, fringed blonde/beige yarn hair under attached red felt cap, five-piece toddler body. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Mr. Sandman, the doll was inspired by the 1959 East German TV children's show which celebrated fantasy dreams to far-away exotic places, Maker unknown, circa 1960, the show was so beloved that dolls were made of the character Mr. Sandman. Value Points: rare doll with captivating presence, original finish, wearing original corduroy pants, red flannel jacket with white buttons, green felt cape, shoes.
