Description
5 1/2" (14 cm.) dolls. 8 1/2" overall. Six dolls, each with flat-dimensional cloth head, except stitched-on nose, having hand-painted facial features and posable bodies, attached to original metal puppet rod with heavy weighted base, include six different men (one a lamplighter) each with original costume designed to emphasize its occupational role. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Edith Bartel, pre-BAPS, circa 1935, the age distinguished by the heavy weighted bases which are notably larger than later puppet construction. Value Points: great detail of highly-characterized faces in wonderfully-preserved condition.
