Description
4" (10 cm.) Each is all-wooden un-jointed flat-dimensional with die-cut edging depicting a little girl, with painted curly hair and facial features, the brown-complexioned doll with added pig-tail tufts. Condition: dolls and costumes excellent, boxes worn. Marks: This is a hand painted "Julie Ann Doll", Re. U.S. Pat. Office Shreve Island Plantation Shreveport, Louisiana" (boxes). Comments: American, circa 1930s, the dolls were sold at various doll stores and departments including Marshall-Fields of Chicago. The dolls were made as a family project during the 1930s by the owners of the cotton-producing Shreveport Plantation struggling to survive the Depression Era woes. Value Points: wonderfully-preserved charming American cottage dolls, four with original box, and each with additional costumes.
