Each doll has one-piece carved wooden head and torso, painted hair with well-defined detail of carving at crown, simplistic painting of facial features, painted curly upper lashes, comma-shaped nose, closed smiling lips, jointed arms and legs. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: AMW (on head) Shorrock Doll c. Alice W. Wainwright. Marblehead Mass (body). Comments: Alice Wainwright, late 1950s, marketed as "Jonathan, Just Plain Boy", one wearing original brown corduroy trousers, gingham shirt, and with painted shoes, and the other with corduroy trousers and painted black boots. Value Points: fine original painting and costume, included is early brochure of the original dolls, including this pair.
