Description
20" (51 cm.) Swivel head, painted complexion and facial features, shaded brown eyes, black and brown upper eyeliner, tiny brows, nostril accents, closed mouth, brunette side-parted human hair in boyish fashion, cloth body with jointing at shoulders and hips. Condition: generally excellent, one shoe missing. Marks: 1 3495 (stamp on foot, and other illegible marks). Comments: VEB, the East German state-owned enterprise which had taken control of the original Kruse property after WWII when Kathe Kruse had moved her firm from Bad Kosen to Donauworth in Western Germany. VEB continued to present Kathe Kruse style dolls from 1951 until 1964. Value Points: the rosy-cheeked lad wears original costume comprising suede-like lederhosen with embroidered suspenders, white shirt, socks and shoes.
