Description
43" (109 cm.) largest. The five wooden dolls, ranging from 7" - 43", are each hand-carved of cembra pine and hand-painted, including three in the traditional Grodnertal peg-wooden style with dowel-jointing at shoulders, elbows, hips and knees, shading detail around the face of hand-painted black, and painted centered facial features; the fourth is a one-piece swaddling style doll with colorfully-painted torso, and the fifth has painted red corset and kid juncture of torso and legs with accented red paper band. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Judith Sotriffer Val Gardena (stamp on two larger and corset lady) F. Canins (stamp on two other). Comments: contemporary dolls in the classic manner, by noted doll artists. Value Points: charming collection with variations in size and style.
