Description
20" (51 cm.) Swivel head, painted rosy complexion and facial features, shaded brown eyes, thick black and brown upper eyeliner, tiny brows, nostril accents, closed mouth, blonde human hair in long braids, cloth body with jointing at shoulders and hips. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 5 6692 (stamp on foot, and other illegible marks). Comments: VEB, the East German state-owned enterprise which had taken control of the original Kruse property after WWII when Kathe Kruse had moved her firm from Bad Kosen to Donauworth in Western Germany. VEB continued to present Kathe Kruse style dolls from 1951 until 1964. Value Points: an especially nice example of the VEB model, with fine painting, wearing traditional costume with matching shawl and cap, woven apron, undergarments, shoes and socks.
