Description
14" (36 cm.) Solid domed composition head, sculpted brown boyish hair with defined forelock, painted facial features, large round blue side-glancing eyes, painted upper lashes, comma-shaped brows, tiny mouth, muslin torso, composition jointed arms and legs, sculpted and painted high brown boots. Condition: generally excellent, very light vertical line on right cheek. Comments: Effanbee, Skippy was designed by Bernard Lipfert, inspired by the Skippy comic strip character of P.L. Crosby. So beloved was the innocent appearing little boy that the doll was made from 1928 into the early 1940s, this example in rare original checkered ensemble and cap, polka dot tie, socks and shoes, and with original celluloid pin "I am Skippy, The Real American Boy".
