Description
15" (38 cm.) Bisque socket head portraying adult man with sculpted and painted grey hair and thick moustache, dark blue glass inset eyes, painted dark lashes, thick brown brows, aquiline nose, accented eye corners, composition and wooden fully jointed body, painted black boots. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 24D. Comments: Cuno and Otto Dressel from their series of American hero dolls of the late 19th century, the figure portrays Admiral Dewey of Spanish-American War, circa 1895. Value Points: rare model in larger size has choice sculpting and bisque, original body and original blue wool costume with brass buttons, braid, and sword.
