9" (23 cm.) seated. 4" baby. The woman with polychromed terra cotta head modeled turned to the side, sculpted brown hair casually waved from her face, held by a sculpted red hair band and formed into a loose chignon at the back of head, enamel eyes, heavily-modeled eyelids, closed mouth with gentle smile, tow-wrapped posable armature body, carved wooden lower arms and legs, expressive fingers, painted blue stockings and brown shoes, wearing original silk costume with embroidered apron. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Neapolitan, mid-1700s. Value Points: posed seated, the woman is holding infant baby in swaddling clothes, with wonderfully detailed face.
