Description
23" (58 cm.) l. overall. The wooden sleigh-shaped coach with painted and stenciled decorations in the Russian style has wooden wheels with heart-shaped cut-outs, double-bench interior, driver's seat, and is being pulled by two carved wooden horses with detail of carved harnesses. Two all-wooden carved dolls are included, viz. the driver with extended hands for holding the reins, and the Count with swivel head, carved grey beard and facial features, brown painted eyes, articulation at shoulders and hips. Condition: very good, original finish, original costumes. Comments: European, probably Russian, mid-1800s. Value Points: rare vignette, the Count with elaborate original silk costume, tall boots, lambswool cap, and wonderfully sculpted beard.
