Description
13" (33 cm.) Porcelain shoulderhead of lady with defined bosom, oval elongated head and throat with defined throat hollow, light brown sculpted hair with striated painting detail arranged in a variation of Grecian style, waved softly away from the face with additional horizontal arranged curl above the sculpted ears, forming into long narrow braids that are pinned up at the back, forming into a coiled chignon at the crown, but terminating in three long ringlet curls that fall forward from the crown, ornamented by a painted blue hair ribbon with gold edging, painted dark blue eyes, red and black eyeliner and brown brows, aquiline elongated nose with accented nostrils, and closed mouth with well-defined lips, firm armature body with porcelain lower arms and hands, wearing bronze-green velvet gown, posed on velvet covered candy box. Condition: generally excellent, 3 finger tips chipped. Marks: (Kister blue symbol inside shoulderplate). Comments: A W. Fr. Kister, successor to Dressel and Kister, circa 1890, the candy box arrangement suggests the model was created for the French market. Value Points: outstanding patrician sculpture, rare coiffure, rare candy box attachment.
