12" (30 cm.) h. 13"l. Of heavy cast iron, the fireplace features elaborate designs including a pair of scrolled leaf plants flanking each side and a pair of rampant lions centering a crest. The rampant lion was a symbol of the ancient royal house of Scotland as early as 1222. Excellent condition. Rare fireplace with very fine detail of designs. Mid-1800s.
