Description
14" (36 cm.) Polychromed terra cotta shoulderhead with modeled bosom, her head slightly tinted to the side, sculpted brown hair drawn away behind her well-modeled ears and captured by a green snood with red banding, enamel inset and outlined eyes, single stroke brows, closed mouth, tow-wrapped posable armature body, carved wooden lower arms and legs, painted red stockings and blue heeled clogs, fine silk and velvet costume and original wooden stand. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Neapolitan, mid-1700s. Value Points: rarity factors on the superbly-featured woman include snood, well-modeled ears, modeled bosom, unusual painting of shoes.
