Description
21" (53 cm.) Standing upon a velvet-covered base is a bisque-head doll with large amber-brown glass paperweight inset eyes, dark eyeliner, painted lush lashes, brushstroked and multi-feathered brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth with shaded lips, pierced ears, brunette human hair wig over cork pate, French carton torso and legs, wire upper arms, bisque forearms. Condition: generally excellent, music strong, movements functioning albeit a bit slow. Marks: Depose Tete Jumeau Bte SGDG 4 (head) (remnants of original paper tune label on under-base). Comments: Leopold Lambert, circa 1892, with commissioned head from Jumeau; when wound the doll turns her head from side to side, nods, and alternately moves the tray and tea pot as though pouring tea; the model was marketed as the "Russian Tea Server." Value Points: the doll wears her factory-original silk costume with silk and metallic fringe trim, pearl ornaments, elaborate headdress, and carries wooden tea tray and tea pot.
