Description
17" (43 cm.) x 13". The wooden theatre with original cream and gold paint and red banner with gold "Opera" lettering, has marble-paper covered base and set-back stage, with candelabra and four bisque theatre dolls, each with bisque shoulderhead, glass inset eyes, painted features, closed mouth, mohair wig, bisque lower limbs, original silk costumes of Louis XVI era, and details of accessories including the lady's wig in the style of Marie Antoinette. Very good condition, theatre original, bisque excellent, costumes and wigs are original albeit quite frail. French, circa 1890, the German-made dolls costumed for the theatre are rare to find with these costumes.
