Description
13" (33 cm.) Solid domed bisque socket head, painted brown boyish hair with forelock curls, small blue glass enamel inset eyes, painted brown curly lashes, feathered brows, accented nostrils, open mouth with shaded lips, row of porcelain teeth, impressed dimples and laughter lines, French composition and wooden fully-jointed body, mariner costume. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: SFBJ 297 Paris. Comments: SFBJ, circa 1912, the doll more closely resembles the SFBJ model 227, yet it is clearly marked 297 which is previously unidentified. Value Points: the charming characterization is well-detailed, very fine quality of bisque.
