Description
32" (81 cm.) Bisque socket head, blue glass "flirty" eyes, painted lashes, feathered brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth, pierced ears, brunette hand-tied human hair wig, French composition and wooden fully-jointed body. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Unis France 17 149. Comments: SFBJ, Unis France epoch, circa 1938, a pair of exhibition-sized dolls representing the two young princesses of England, Elizabeth and Margaret, were made to publicize their official state visit to Paris in 1938; later smaller sizes of the models were sold in Paris department stores, but very few examples of the exhibition size were ever made or preserved; one set is in the Victoria and Albert Museum. Value Points: extremely rare doll in perfectly preserved condition, with original wig and original delicate organza gown with embroidered details, undergarments, stockings and shoes.
