Description
21" (53 cm.) x 12" x 5". The mahogany armoire features a mirrored door above a single drawer, with beautifully grained rosewood veneers and rich ornamentation of gilt ormolu along with bronze mounts, escutcheon and figural design of lady's head on crest, with lock and key. Excellent condition. Attached to the base is a paper label of W.H. Cremer of New Bond Street in London whose toy warehouse claimed "manufacturer and importer of toys and games to her Majesty and all the Royal Family, the Courts of Prussia, France and Austria". His business operated from 1862-1870 and he claimed medals won in London in 1862 and Paris in 1867 International Expositions.
