Description
17" (43 cm.) Bisque socket head with highly-characterized features, blue glass eyes, very strong nose, sculpted grey brows, closed mouth with smiling expression, pronounced ears, incised wrinkles with red accent highlights, blonde mohair wig, Sonneberg composition and wooden fully-jointed body. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: made in Germany S5. Comments: Cuno and Otto Dressel, circa 1890, the doll was presented as Uncle Sam, as The Farmer, and here in high society gentleman's costume including top hat, leather valise and umbrella. Value Points: wonderful presentation, enhanced by very fine sculpting and painting.
