Description
25" (64 cm.) Bisque socket head, deep blue glass paperweight inset eyes, dark eyeliner, painted lashes, widely-arched brushstroked brows, rose-blushed eye shadow, shaded nostrils, open mouth, shaded lips, six porcelain teeth, pierced ears, brunette hand-tied human hair wig over cork pate, French composition and wooden fully-jointed body, internal phonograph mechanism which operates by key-wind at back of torso. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Depose Tete Jumeau 11 (head). Comments: Emile Jumeau in conjunction with Henri Lioret, the doll was marketed by Jumeau as "Bebe Phonographe", circa 1892. Value Points: especially beautiful example of the rare doll, with lovely antique costume, one recording "La Mere Michel" and original signed Jumeau shoes.
