Description
17" (43 cm.) Oil-painted complexion and facial features over very firm sculpting material, red yarn hair, adult woman-shaped and detailed torso with stomach cap opening to hollow interior and nestled unborn baby, with button-jointed shoulders, elbows, hips and knees. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: an old hand-written paper label on the back says, "This doll is one of several made by WPA workers in Fla (1935) under supervision of Miss Julia Graves, RN, to be used in instructing the ignorant mid-wives, both male and female. Given to Lillian C. Bragg by Miss Graves, June 1957, Savannah Ga". Value Points: very rare teaching doll with provenance, and with original birthing costume.
