Description
16" (41 cm.) Each has firmly-modeled paper mache head with painted facial features and brown hair, cloth body, depicting an adult man and woman. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Missouri WPA Museum Project (tag on woman) Hungarian Man 857 (hand lettered cloth tag on man). Comments: W.P.A. circa 1933, as part of the Federal Artists Project to provide work during the Depression era by preserving details of American immigrant history. Value Points: the pair are wearing exceptionally detailed folklore costume with rich embroidery.
