Description
21" (53 cm.) Bisque shoulderhead of Queen Elizabeth II at the time of her inauguration, sculpted short brown hair in wavy curls, sculpted crown and necklace, painted blue upper-glancing eyes, red and black eyeliner, painted lashes, lightly feathered brows, strong nose, closed mouth with firmly set lips, muslin body, porcelain lower limbs, painted silver heeled shoes, blue brocade gown. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: MDT Elizabeth II 1953 (head) Comments: portrait model of the young Queen of which the royal family noted there was "no objection" but could not give official approval. Value Points: beautiful portrait with superbly painted features, the sculpted and painted crown and necklace enhanced with appliqued rhinestone "diamonds".
