Description
26" (66 cm.) w. x 16"h. x 14"d. The one-room wooden school house has grey painted exterior with outlined stone corners, dark-stained wooden ceiling edging and front pilasters with ornamental carving. The interior floor is painted sienna red, and the walls have original brown paint with green borders and gold accents. The room is fitted with original oak furnishings that include a desk with attached benches and porcelain inkwells for six students, teacher's desk and chair on platform, display cabinet, clock, long bench, table, coat rack, and shelf. Accessories include blackboard on frame, abacus, globe on pedestal, books, school bags, double oil lamp, Christmas tree, phonograph with horn, school bell, framed silhouettes, Gottschalk potted flowers, dog and more. There is a bisque-head school teacher with sculpted brown hair and black hair band, and seven sculpted-hair school children in antique costume. Excellent condition. Germany, circa 1880.
