Description
9" (23 cm.) -11". The set of cloth dolls depict members of the Coronation party at the 1937 coronation of George VI, along with Queen Victorian in mourning costume. Each of five muslin dolls has stitch-shaped face, muslin painted features, mohair wig, and is wearing an elaborately hand-stitched cloth costume to represent its personage. Included is King George VI in his coronation robes and crown with "jewel" accents, Queen Mother Elizabeth with crown and matching velvet robe with "ermine" trim, Lord High Chancellor in coronation robes, and Queen Mary, mother of George VI. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: each of the dolls has original cloth label "Liberty of London". Comments: English, 1937. Value Points: fine state of preservation of each meticulously created figure.
