16" (41 cm.) Polychromed terra cotta shoulderhead, plumply-modeled cheeks and chin, blonde sculpted hair with shoulder-length deeply-incised blonde locks curled up at the edges, enamel eyes, slightly-parted lips with row of sculpted teeth, tow-wrapped posable armature body, carved wooden lower arms and legs, bare feet, wearing early blue cotton and silk costume with silver metallic edging and white cotton shirt. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Neapolitan, late 1700s. Value Points: rare plump modeling of features on the young lad, with especially definition of eye sockets and hair, fine original finish.
