Description
17" (43 cm.) Bisque socket head, blue glass paperweight inset eyes with spiral threading, painted lashes, feathered brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth, pierced ears, brunette mohair wig, Sonneberg composition and wooden fully-jointed body, nicely costumed. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: W.D. 9. Comments: William Dehler, Sonneberg, circa 1885, the doll closely resembles the early Jumeau bebe whose market the Dehler firm aimed to capture. Value Points: dolls by this maker are very rare to find, this example with especially charming "French-like" modeling and presentation.
