Description
11" (28 cm.) x 14". A wooden box with red and gilt paper cover and gilt-lettered label "Lingerie" hinges open to a well-fitted interior depicting a seamstress shop. The niches and drawers at the back contain a number of fabric parcels, fabric flowers, costume samples, hat stands with miniature bonnets, and seven bisque or porcelain doll heads being used as milliner's models. A wooden work table with more samples is on the floor with decorative papers to simulate parquet, and there are more fabric samples, boxes and cards of beads, buttons, and other sewing supplies, as well as dress and bonnet samples. Very good condition. French, circa 1885.
