Description
21" (53 cm.) x 17" framed. The original pen and ink sketch depicts The Kewpie Dog and the Bad Little Boy with a surrounding of merry Kewpies. It appeared in the December, 1913 issue of Women's Home Companion in a storyline titled "The Kewpie's Christmas Dog". In the story, the Bad Boy, who delighted to tying tin cans around the legs of a little pup and then chasing the pup down the street was taught a lesson by Kewpies. They tied tin cans around the legs of Bad Boy, later stating merrily "we've cured a boy of evil habits, now". And then the Kewpies, the Dog, and The Boy enjoyed a holiday season together. Interestingly, the Dog, clearly drawn as Doodle Dog, is referred to only as the Kewpie Dog. Excellent condition, magazine page included. Original illustration by Rose O'Neill, 1913.
