Description
3" (8 cm.) h. swing. The all-bisque figure depicts Kewpie seated upon a blue hammock or swing holding a bisque mandolin and posed as though crooning to a love, having classic topknot, blue wings, side-glancing eyes. The hammock has original drilled holes at each top edge, designed for placement of ribbons allowing the object to be hung. Excellent condition. Marked c. in circle. Germany, c. 1915, designed by Rose O'Neill, from a rare "blue swing" series of seated Kewpies; other examples have included tiny Kewpie with book and tiny Kewpie with rose.
