Description
5" (13 cm.) All-bisque Kewpie with one-piece head, torso and legs is posed standing, with loop-jointed arms, and with sculpted blue sailor cap with black band lettered Kewpie, tendrils of curls onto forehead and above the ears, blue wings. Marked O'Neill on feet and with red paper label on chest. Excellent condition. Germany, c. 1912, designed by Rose O'Neill, detail of painting includes black streamers on cap at back of head.
