Description
5.5" (14 cm.) Posed against the front of a decorative column with dish-shaped rounded flat top designed to serve as candle holder is a pair of Kewpie Huggers, in classic pose as they lovingly embrace and gaze into each other's eyes. The column is decorated in shades of ivory, green and lilac, and details of the design include the painting of eyes and tilting of Kewpie heads to enhance the loving gaze. Excellent condition. Marked c. in circle, and with Goebel incised mark. Germany, c. 1915, designed by Rose O'Neill, rare example of the endearing use in Kewpie for utilitarian purpose.
