Description
3.5" (9 cm.) All-bisque seated Kewpie with one-piece head, torso and legs, loop-jointed arms, with blue side curls peeking from beneath a very elaborate modeled helmet decorated with plumed crest, red banding, and raised gilt eagle design and brim band. Kewpie has side-glancing eyes, blue wings and original paper label "Kewpie Hero" on chest. Original paper label "Rose O'Neill Germany" on back torso. Excellent condition. Germany, c. 1915.
