Description
9" (23 cm.) All-bisque one-piece Kewpie with modeled forelock, topknot, blue wings, side-glancing eyes, arms modeled away from body (not jointed), and having painted white costume with textured detail and green edging, painted and modeled socks and shoes. Marked O'Neill on feet. Excellent condition as shown. The doll is German, c. 1915, but the history of the painted costume remains a mystery; the doll was shown in the book, Kewpies in Action, by Marlene Leuzzi.
