Description
3.3" (8 cm.) All-bisque Kewpie with modeled topknot, forelock and blue wings and holding a baby bottle is seated on a garden bench alongside Doodle Dog with painted black spots and blue wings who seems eager to partake from the bottle which Kewpie extends toward him. Excellent condition. Marks: c (stamp in circle on base). Germany, circa 1915, designed by Rose O'Neill, the very rare and endearing scene is lent animation by the artistic posing of the pair, and Kewpie's teasing expression at the wishful gaze of Doodle Dog.
