Description
1.7" (4 cm.) h. 3"l. One-piece all-bisque Doodle Dog posed in classic manner, attached to a sunflower-shaped vase in such manner that Doodle Dog appears to be looking backward at the sunflower smiling face. Doodle Dog has shaded black spots with pink tinged highlights, side-glancing eyes, blue wings and painted whiskers, and the sunburst has a sculpted and painted face on the front side while the back side features spiral arranged petals around the center disk flowers. Excellent condition. Germany, c. 1915, designed by Rose O'Neill, an extremely rare Kewpie design, the Doodle Dog was offered in this black spotted version and in brown spotted version (see #70 this catalog).
