Description
42" overall (107 cm.) 22"w. The wooden cart with two large spoked wheels and polychromed original painted finish was designed for use in ceremonial processional parades, this being a child-sized variation of the larger parade carts. The cart has original exuberant and colorful painting with various historical scenes which are told at the top of each panel in Sicilian. In addition to the painted scenes, there are carved sculptures including 12 carved faces and carved serpents with long tonguers on the harness shafts. The carriage bed has a large painted face with side-glancing eyes. Excellent original condition and painting overall, one small piece of missing wood on the removable gate. Sicilian, late 1800s.
