27" (69 cm.) x 14"w. x 8"d. The wooden secretaire, constructed in two parts, features an elaborately fitted upper section with a myriad of niches and tiny drawers, above a desk lower section with hinged writing table which opens to reveal ever further drawers and niches, and with three wide drawers and two pencil drawers each with bronze drawer pulls. The desk is finished in ebony black in the Chinoiserie manner, with rich gilt and grey painted scenes and accents on the exterior, and with sienna painted interior with further gilt scenes. Excellent condition. Maitrise model, late 20th century in the 18th century style.
