Description
19" (48 cm.) overall. head 5"h. Bisque swivel head on kid-edged bisque shoulderplate, having two faces which can be swiveled for alternate front view, one face with blue glass inset eyes, painted brows and lashes, and closed mouth; and the other face with molded closed eyes as though sleeping, closed mouth. The doll has sculpted brown hair and sculpted pierced ears which are visible from both faces, muslin stitch-jointed body, leather arms with stitched-on leather gloves, nicely costumed. Condition: generally excellent, one glove a bit worn. Comments: C.F. Kling, circa 1870, the double-faced model was featured in a 1834-1934 exhibition of Kling dolls. Value Points: rare model with very fine quality of painting and unique sculpting.
