23" (58 cm.) Bisque swivel head on kid-edged bisque shoulderplate, blue glass enamel inset eyes, dark eyeliner, painted lashes, lightly rose blushed eye shadow, feathered brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth with accented lips, upturned lip corners in gentle smile, pierced ears, blonde mohair wig over cork pate, French kid gusset-jointed poupee body with square-cut collarette. Condition: generally excellent, body especially sturdy. Marks: G (head and shoulderplate). Comments: Leon Casimir Bru, circa 1872, the model was deposed in that year. Value Points: original wig with very fine original coiffure, finest quality of bisque, near mint body, and wearing an extraordinary original costume of ivory and aqua silk with fine lace and beaded accents, leather slippers with blue bows. Provenance: the doll is said to have belonged to the celebrated 19th century open singer Madam Scheman Heinke Opera singer.
